American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Roles

The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) is an association of more than 15,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach U.S. immigration law. Founded in 1946, AILA provides continuing legal education and information for its members in the United States and abroad, and facilitates the exchange of expertise on the complex and ever-changing body of immigration law, regulation, and policy.  As an active member of AILA, Steve shares his in-depth knowledge of State Department operations, visa and citizenship policy, and consular processing with colleagues in discussion panels at national and regional AILA conferences and in AILA podcasts and webinars.   He is a charter member of AILA’s Rome District Chapter for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (RDC-EMEA), which serves a growing number of US attorneys with consular processing practices throughout that region, as well as in the United States, serving previously as chapter secretary, treasurer, vice chair and chair.   He is a regular participant and speaker at AILA and RDC-EMEA  conferences for the RDC-EMEA, AILA’s Bangkok District Chapter and  Latin American District Chapter and the Texas Bar Association’s Immigration division.  Steve served for five years on AILA’s Department of State Liaison committee and currently serves on AILA’s Business Immigration Response Team (BIRT).
